Humana Dental Focusing on my finances so today's video is actually a requested one I had a few people either in the comments reach out and ask . About how the status bill works I've never been to the dentist or never paid for the dentist I even had a few people email me and ask things about like how their dental insurance Would work if it was worth it for them and I'm not a dental expert I can only give you my story but this video is going to break down how much we were charged how much insurance helped how much I've paid for insurance and how We're going to pay this bill off without accruing any interest so I'll say it again in the video cuz I already filmed the walk through part of this but . This is our own story this is very unique and if your concern is that you have never been to the dentist where you're the one paying for it or you've never had a cavity before I can most . likely guarantee you that you're not going to get a $, bill

This is a relatively new report that we have available this shows Franklin County so what we've done you can I won't read this fine print here but basically we've taken our book of business and looked at every claim paid in Franklin County we've run it against our network and then use that Same netminder data to run it's essentially a disruption is what we're running with those claims we've found we've checked the claims looked at the providers and see confirmed whether or not they've been in our competit

that's renaissance dental very tricky when you're looking at discounts because often times if a carrier will look at a group dental practice and in order to get . Them into their network they may come off of their their core fee schedule and say hey well we'll give you guys a little bit of a higher reimbursement to get you in our network so all of A sudden you've got multiple fee schedules out there and it's really hard to put your finger on well which ones being used for for my clients at Delta Dental we have one fee schedule for PPO and one . Fee schedule for a premier providers we just work with two fee schedules it's easier for for analysis it's easier for the the providers to know what they're getting paid and that this Works better for us and then out of network reimbursement we kind of talked about the Mac versus the percentile Methodology that can have a big impact on on patience because if they're not going to an in-network provi

Dental Insurance No Waiting Period Looking at a deductible versus a so that does have a rate impact that we would want to know that should be you know we should be to find that in a benefit summary or certainly dessert . What those services apply to almost all the time it's going to be your basic in nature services the deductible does not apply to preventive and diagnostic services that first tier coverage That's almost common among st all carriers but sometimes we do see it differ so there again if we're looking at a plan that is different we need to see that so we can we can raid accordingly and then . A few more things here what are the effective dates of the provided rates are we in a current current rates do you have The renewal yet are we in the middle of a multi-year contract it's not common but we see people shop even during a two or three year rate guarantee just to do their due diligence Waiting periods those are we see those trending away there&#

I can't afford, most likely Dental insurance texas you are not going to have a , bill if you know that you like if this is their first time ever going to the dentist. That you're going to pay for it and you haven't had cavities in your entire life you're gonna be just fine you're gonna pay something more like this you're gonna pay maybe about $ and . I dental insurance texas need to pay I guess it should be this because it's payment so it's supposed to be two hundred eighty nine dollars I'm going to round up slightly mostly for . My own sanity and say three hundred per pay period so while we are paying per pay period or a month to get this all down because it's about ten months. We are focusing the rest of our debt snowball on our other debt payments so we're gonna try to knock out my car this year and right about . The same time that I chop off the Dennis pedal and it's all done we'll hopefully be around the time that I cut off my biggest student loan so starting next . May things will hopefully start moving a lot quicker for us but honestly I'm pretty proud of us for being able to cash flow as much as we did here and and only having this much left of The bill some of it was very fortunate like the fact that work changed their their dental insurance providers in will it changed it in.

Back humana dental on it next we have I had to get new retainers and I got I paid for those on June th I actually haven't gotten them yet they have to like ship them ship the mold out or something so that was dollars and this is . Where we ended up saving money from the estimated cost they were able to get mine for much cheaper I'm not sure why but they did we did get five dollars and cents back on that and then Ryan's. Night guard which is the thing I'm probably the most excited for because he will stop grinding his teeth at night and stop waking me up so I'm very happy about that if you live with someone that grinds her teeth you know and his night guard was dollars I don't know how often we are going to have to pay. dental help obviously oral health is a major issue across the country we've seen in polling that of the population supports adding dental help a dental to Medicare and this is this is support that's across both parting lines demographics and and incomes and so we know this a popular issue we also know that it's an issue that. that still needs to be raised so that we can raise the awareness of policymakers about the benefits of this issue and about the needs of it and so at families USA we want to continue to focus on this as a consumer movement to make sure that people are taking up the the value of oral health coverage and understanding the connection of oral health to overall health and the benefits of overall health by by bringing in better and and more comprehensive oral health coverage so we'll continue to do that and we appreciate you joining us for this webinar we'll be as I said we've been recording this webinar and we'll be making it ava

would be ameritas dental determined in legislation that's something that would be determined in rule making afterwards and that would you know be sort of after the fact step so the fact that that's was. we're getting from members of Congress is a little bit frustrating but it is also something that as an oral health community we should be thinking about I know a lot of folks out there are trying to think about how dentistry could be reimbursed differently in order to better promote outcomes and to move away from a fee-for-service model but it's certainly well behind the medical field and getting there so I think as progress is being made in that arena it's important to keep members of Congress abreast of those activities but also remind them that we can't really change the system if there's no payment mechanism in place at all I think in terms of the HEA the American Dental Association you know they are divided on a lot of things and the two iss
